10 Tech Billionaires Who Won’t Leave Their Entire Money For Kids

This is a list of entrepreneurs who won’t let their children inherit their entire property. They would rather donate most of their hard earned money for noble causes for the sake of the well-being of the society and environment.
While most of us would be under the impression that children of the famous billionaires of the world would inherit a huge fortune to themselves, here’s the list of a famous people and couple people who have donated most of their money for the charitable causes.
These men and women have not only made it big by their sheer hard work and dedication but also contributed in making this world a better place.

1. Bill Gates:

Bill Gates is known for philanthropy. His past donations are a proof of how much is he in serving humanity than leaving behind billions for their children. Currently, Bill Gates is the master of around 85 billion dollars but he thinks that it is not a good idea to leave behind so much money for their children. From his past donations, it’s almost evident that Bill Gates is going to donate more money to his foundation called ‘Bill and Melinda Gates foundation’.
Gates said: “I definitely think leaving kids massive amounts of money is not a favor to them.”

2. Facebook Founder Mark  Zuckerberg:

Just like Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Zuckerberg is also planning to open an initiative called Chan-Zuckerberg initiative. This initiative was announced after the birth of their daughter in December last year. Through this foundation, they want to serve humanity by promoting equality, accessibility to educational resources to unprivileged children, curing disease etc. Mark Zuckerberg‘s net worth is around 47 billion Dollars.

3. AOL co-founder Steve Case:

Case began case foundation in 1997 by Steve Case the founder of AOL. Case initiative is not just focused on donations rather it’s focused more on how to make philanthropy more effective using technology. Like Zuckerberg, he has also signed the giving pledge and he is more interested in  startups outside the Silicon valley through an investment firm called the revolution.

4. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff:

Through his recently launched campaign called SF Gives, Benioff was able to raise $10 million for San Francisco-based nonprofit programs in just 60 days. Apart from raising funds for philanthropy, he has also asked other corporations to follow his 1/1/1 model, which says that a company should donate 1% of its equity, 1% of its employees’ time, and 1% of its resources to philanthropic efforts.

5. Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs:

Irvin Jacobs is more into donating money for educational purposes. Jacobs has donated around $500 million to charitable causes that include the Cornell Tech Roosevelt Island campus, MIT fellowships, and the San Diego Symphony. Like Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Case, he has also signed the giving pledge promising to give away at least half of the billions he made with Qualcomm.

6. EBay founder Pierre Omidyar:

Omidyar and his wife Pam signed the giving pledge in 2010. 12 years after eBay went public. They have already donated more than a billion dollars towards philanthropy since eBay became pubic.
“In 2001, I publicly stated that we intend to give away the vast majority of our wealth during our lifetime, our view is fairly simple. We have more money than our family will ever need. There’s no need. to hold onto it when it can be put to use today, to help solve some of the world’s most intractable problems.”
– The couple say in the Pledge letter.
They are most widely known for their humanity work against Human trafficking.

7. Intel co-founder Gordon Moore:

Gordon Moore famous for Moore foundation has already donated half of his wealth towards his foundation. Besides donations, he has also given away more than $1 billion to the charitable causes. His cause towards philanthropy is also as unique as of Omidyar. His foundation works more towards environmental conservation, health measures etc. He has given billions of Dollars in charity and He also signed Giving pledge along with his wife in 2012. After signing the pledge, they said:
“We are pleased to be a part of the Giving Pledge not only because we are able to commit these funds, but because we believe they can lead to real learning and measurable change.”

8 .Tesla CEO Elon Musk:

Elon Musk has already created history by venturing into the field of space technology and electric cars. Even after having five children, he’s already donated much of his $12.9 billion fortune to renewable energy, science and engineering education, and pediatric health. Elon Musk is a big donor towards technologies which are going to benefit humanity like renewable energy sources, science, and engineering etc. He receives only $1 a year for his work with Tesla.

9. Spanx CEO Sara Blakely:

Sara is the first woman to sign the Giving Pledge in 2013. Her Pledge letter read:
“I am committed to the belief that we would all be in a much better place if half the human race (women) were empowered to prosper, invent, be educated, start their own businesses, run for office – essentially be given the chance to soar!”

10. Oracle founder Larry Ellison:

Oracle founder Ellison committed to giving away 95 percent of his wealth to charitable causes, especially to his medical foundation.
His letter to the Giving Pledge read:
Warren Buffett personally asked me to write this letter because he said I would be ‘setting an example’ and ‘influencing others’ to give. I hope he’s right.”

There’s No Law For Killer Robots: A Deadly Leap In The Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence sounds esoteric and interesting to many of us. The explanation of neutral networks, flow of conducting neurons and the inculcation of emotions inside the robots reveal the side we are heading to where we might seek emotional help from the robots. But is it just the end of the story or there is another side as well?
Surely there is another side of the story which was revealed at the World Economic Forum in Davos where experts gathered to discuss the future of the autonomous killer robots.
The race is ON. And, don’t think that just a few of us are involved in the race but, there are as many as 40 countries currently working on this tech, including the United States which is the leader in this field. Do not think that no efforts have not been made by some of us to ban this. Efforts have been made but on the other side, the race has already begun.
The audiences at Davos at the World Economic Forum were polled during the chat about their views on autonomous killer bots. People were more likely to be in favor of sending robots to die instead of their own sons or daughters but the question remains Is this going to be a war between the robots or the humans are involved as well?
A campaign to stop killer robots explains it very well:
Two-thirds of the states that spoke referred to the need for meaningful or effective or adequate human control. Countries continued to return to the notion of meaningful human control throughout the week, indicating its central relevance as a “touchstone” for addressing fully autonomous weapons.

Artificial Intelligence Is Just As Smart As Your Kid, IQ Tests Reveal

Artificial Intelligence might be smart, but it is a million miles away when it comes to perceiving and understanding things as humans do – the recent study shows just the same.
Ok everybody, so the results are out and those fearing the grandiose display of intellectual supremacy by the contender can ease out now. A team from the University of Illinois and AI research group in Hungary did a Verbal IQ (VIQ) study on the AI system of MIT and came out with some relieving results. The AI system that they used was an open-source project run by MIT called ConceptNet.
Artificial Intelligence which right now is seeing some crazy developments like this AI based program that became chess grand master in 72 hours, has raised many eyebrows (some heartbeats as well), but this study reveals that AI has much to learn when it comes to “understanding things
The research team led by Stellan Ohlsson at the University of Illinois first put ConceptNet 4 to a psychometric test on the standards of the four-year-olds. The test known as Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence take into account of the information, vocabulary, word reasoning, comprehension, and similarities to measure the performance of children. Much to the surprise, MIT’s AI system fared humbly on the test and could not match against the tests put up for the older children.
In response to ‘Why do we shake hands?”, ConceptNet said, “Epileptic Fit”. The answer seems crazy, but the machine saw it as “shake” and “hands” and “shake hands” and from its related search came to a technical conclusion.
There were several similar sort of questions targeting the cognitive understanding of the alleged master of the humans in future, but the results were all the same.
Now, what did YOU understand? The machine, AI make decisions based on the information supplied to them and functions on algorithms. So, until and unless they are brainwashed against humans, the possibility of any uprising is next to zero. And again, just relax, and let the technology grow.

Linux Creator Thinks “Future Robots Controlling Humans” Is Stupid

Well, things have certainly become interesting now. On one side, we have the genius professor Stephen Hawking, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak with many other theorists backing the inevitable, and then there is LINUX creator Linus Torvalds.
Torvalds, in a recent Q&A session with Slashdot users, has tipped the scales to balance in this ever debatable theory “Will the Machines Rise?”. The Linux creator does not think that Artificial Intelligence will ever reach the hypothesized ‘Skynet’ type situation to threaten human race. Although the internet was filled with the reports of a robot crushing a human to death in Germany last weekend, it still does not mean that the uprising has started.
Also Read:
While in a recent statement at a Freescale technology forum in Austin, Wozniak has pegged the robots to make humans their pets. In other news, Elon Musk feels the technology sophistication is humans biggest existential threat and has invested $10 million of his money into an artificial intelligence firm, just to keep an eye on the AI developments.
Linus Torvalds, on the other hand, doesn’t see the machines and AI to be fearful of, and he has reasons to believe that. He thinks the future AI will be like a recurrent neural network and it will need training by humans. The machines he said, ‘won’t be reliable in the traditional computing sense’ and humans would not be able to decipher the machines’ decisions.
Torvalds thinks the AI would be more targeted and user specific like language and pattern recognition, or perceiving the images and videos close to human understanding, but is wary of the fact that it would possibly become any existential threat to humans in future. Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg too has predicted the future of AI that includes abilities like these, and ‘telepathy’.
Linus rebuffed sci-fi theories  of Singularity saying:
The whole “Singularity” kind of event? Yeah, it’s science fiction, and not very good SciFi at that, in my opinion. Unending exponential growth? What drugs are those people on? I mean, really..
The machines would definitely become fancier but in no possible way ‘discuss Sartre with you’, said Linus. Researchers have been trying to make AI more human-like by programming it to get the feelings and emotions of humans. Google’s AI chatbot was in the news a few days back when its makers sat down with a Q&A round with their bot, where the machine lost it totally when asked about morality and God. See, machines can’t understand and would never possibly do, the abstract logic and behavior of humans.
Torvalds think the growth of machines would possibly follow the Moore’s law in coming decades but it is just the beginning of the curve and the technological advancements to reach that level have just started.
So it’s not yet time to get cautious. Enjoy. Terminators are not coming any time soon 😛

The US Military Wants A Computer to Convert Your Brain Activity Into Binary Code

As a part of DARPA’s programs to support President Obama’s brain initiative, this advanced research organization has announced a new program called Neural Engineering System Design (NESD). This program aims to create a new computer-brain interface (‘biocompatible’ device) that will support data transfer at super fast speed.
Abrand-new program from the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is working to make a new computer-brain interface. This implantable neural interface will provide an advanced data-transfer bandwidth and signal resolution between your brain and computer.
blog post dubbed as Bridging the Bio-electronic Divide explains the DARPA ambitions to form a ‘biocompatible’ device that will convert the electrochemical language of the brain into the binary code.
This program is being called Neural Engineering System Design (NESD) by the agency. The blog post mentions that current brain-computer interfaces aren’t fast enough for disruptive neurological applications. For example, to restore the vision of a person, it would need high-speed data transfer from a camera to the brain by converting visual data directly into binary code.
“Today’s best brain-computer interface systems are like two supercomputers trying to talk to each other using an old 300-baud modem,” said Phillip Alvelda, the NESD program manager. “Imagine what will become possible when we upgrade our tools to really open the channel between the human brain and modern electronics.”

Uses of DARPA’s in-development computer-brain interface

As mentioned above, the research agency wishes to develop the technology and bring immediate medical benefits. The proposed technology is said to connect about a million neurons and it could easily treat visual and hearing impairments. It could also boost the physical capabilities of the prosthetics used by physically challenged people.
However, to make this a reality, it would need an immense amount of dedicated collaboration of multiple disciplines and “integrated breakthroughs across numerous disciplines including neuroscience, synthetic biology, low-power electronics, photonics, medical device packaging and manufacturing, systems engineering, and clinical testing.”
This program is a part of the programs within DARPA that support President Obama’s brain initiative.

WhatsApp Founder: “WhatsApp Is Now Free For All Users Forever”

According to WhatsApp founder Jan Koum, the Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is going to drop its 99 cents annual usage fee. This statement was made by the founder of WhatsApp Jan Koum in Munich. It would be interesting to see which other ways will be explored by the company to earn money from its massive 900 million user base.
Currently, WhatsApp has over 900 million active monthly users and is really popular among its users. Now the company has decided to drop the $1 subscription fee.
According to its founder Jan Koum, dropping the annual usage fee will further help this company grow and will also help in attracting more users. Before the implementation of this policy, a user’s first year of use was free with subsequent years charged.
Dropping off the annual charges has warmed up the market on ‘how Facebook will make money from its WhatsApp messaging app?’. Traditionally, Facebook, the umbrella company of WhatsApp, makes money from its products by harvesting data and selling ads.
“Many WhatsApp users don’t have a debit or credit card number and they worried they’d lose access to their friends and family after their first year. So over the next several weeks, we’ll remove fees from the different versions of our app and WhatsApp will no longer charge you for our service,” according to a blog post by WhatsApp.
However, in the case of WhatsApp, this approach is not likely to be welcomed by many users. Because there are a plethora of messaging apps out there giving a plenty of alternatives available to choose from if WhatsApp decided to follow this path.
On the other hand, WhatsApp says it is going to explore different ways that let users communicate with businesses and other organizations for its future monetization. But that is too early to say.
According to Koum, no such code has been written to facilitate this change yet. The company still wouldn’t commit to whether it will add video calling in the future or not.

The easy guide on how to access the Dark Web using Tor

A complete tutorial for accessing the Dark Web using Tor on Linux, Mac and Windows PCs

The Deep Web (or Invisible web) is the set of information resources on the World Wide Web not reported by normal search engines, according a raw estimation of some security experts clear web represents only a small portion of the overall web content, the remaining part is unknown to the majority of web users.
Ordinary web users are literally shocked when understand the existence of the Deep Web, a network of interconnected systems, not indexed, having a size hundreds of times higher than the current web, around 500 times.
As the name suggests, the Dark Web is an extremely large and hidden portion of the internet, and this guide will help you to access it in a very ‘simple to follow’ guide. Let us start.

Getting started

In order to access the Dark Web, you will be required to download and installed a browser called Tor. While it is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS X, we will not be recommending you to use these platforms, and for very good reasons, which is security and of course privacy. The damage being inflicted on your operating system in the form of bugs is going to be extremely detrimental, not to mention that you might become the target of government officials, so make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into. Also, it is recommended that you are running the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, since it uses up less resources of your system and also blows up less number of whistles as far as privacy is concerned.

Download the official application

It is imperative that you read this very carefully. Do not download Tor from any other download site, and we highly recommend that you take the installation file from the official website. After you have downloaded the software, you can wish to test its legitimacy with the Tor Project’s GPG signatures as per the method below.

How to identify the legitimacy of a Tor browser download

You have to be careful every step of the way so here are the necessary steps that you should take in order to check if the software is legitimate or not.
Save the GPG signatures to the same directory as the Tor download and using these tools you can use the following process. Keep in mind that this is going to be for both the Mac and Linux platforms. Make sure that you have GPG Tools for Mac installed and GnuPG for Linux installed. Now, follow the steps given below (keep in mind that you will see the term ‘Download-Location’ at various locations of the guide. Replace this with the actual location of your download to avoid unnecessary obstacles standing in your way).
1. Import the public key of the Tor project (type in the same manner):
2. gpg –keyserver x-hkp://pool.sks-keyservers.net –recv-keys 0x4E2C6E8793298290
3. Verify on Linux using the following command: gpg –verify ~/DownloadLocation/tor-browser-linux*.tar.xz{.asc*,}
4. Verify on Mac using the following command: gpg –verify ~/DownloadLocation/TorBrowser-VERSION-osx*_en-US.dmg{.asc*,}
The results should look something like the image below:

For Windows, it is going to be a little trickier so be sure to follow the steps without missing anything
1. Get GPG for Windows. The files can be obtained from here
2. Fire up windows command prompt, or cmd (opening as Administrator is recommended)
3. Import the Tor Project signature: “C:\Program Files\Gnu\GnuPg\gpg.exe” –keyserver x-hkp://pool.sks-keyservers.net –recv-keys 0x4E2C6E8793298290
4. To verify the signature using GPG for Windows: “C:\Program Files\Gnu\GnuPg\gpg.exe” –verify C:\DownloadLocation\torbrowser-install-VERSION_en-US.exe.asc
C:\DownloadLocation\torbrowser-install-VERSION_en-US.exe
5. Keep in mind that all this process has to be carried out through cmd, or command prompt.

How to successfully install Tor on various operating systems

Here is how you will successfully be able to install the Tor browser on various platforms. Let us begin.

Linux (Debian based systems)

You will have the option of installing the Official Tor Repository and downloading it directly. This will save time and verification will be done automatically for you.
Debian: nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Insert: deb http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org jessie main deb-src http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org jessie main
Next, do the following:
Ctrl+O
apt-get update
apt-get install tor

Ubuntu

nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Insert: deb http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org trusty main deb-src http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org trusty main
Ctrl+O
apt-get update
apt-get install tor

Mac

1. Download and install Macports from here
2. Next, open a terminal and type the following command: sudo port install tor

Windows

Installing the Tor Browser to access the Dark Web on Windows is the simplest process possible. Just install the program like you would any other program.

How to navigate around the Dark Web

Keep in mind that this is not Google, but the Dark Web, so it will be difficult for you in finding your way around. This is exactly the reason why a Hidden Wiki exists. There are two versions of Hidden Wiki; one is a uncensored version, which will help you to access explicit content, or things that a righteous man would certainly condemn. As for the censored version, it will display the information as you can see in the image below.

thank you for reading :)

How To Unlock Google Maps’ New Hidden Driving Mode

Call it a bug or an updated feature of the Google maps, now with the updated version of Google maps, without entering the destination, Google maps will suggest you things like nearby hotels, gas stations etc. This feature has not been released publicly but it is expected to come to your mobile soon.
Earlier we had to use the ‘Nearby’ feature on Google maps to find hotels, gas station, restaurants and such public facilities. It would be surely nicer if we see these things as live as traffic updates on the Google maps. Looks like Google maps designer have heard our uneasiness and they have already integrated a special driving mode into the Google map but it is still not known to many of us.
You can enter this driving mode whether you have a destination in mind or not. So, now the artificial intelligence system of the Google Maps will suggest things like traffic incidents, nearby restaurants, gas stations, and more based on your usual driving route.
However, you will first need to update to the latest version of Google Maps (v. 9.19) to activate this feature and follow the following steps —

How To Unlock Google Maps’ New Hidden Driving Mode

  • Open Google Maps on your device.
  • Navigate to Settings in the slide-out panel on the left side of the app.
  • At the bottom of the settings list, select “Sign out of Google Maps.”
  • Tap the Multitasking button on your phone and swipe away Google Maps.
  • Re-open Google Maps.
  • Open the slide-out navigation panel on the left side of the app.
  • You should now see a “Start driving” button on the list of options.
  • Navigate to Settings and sign back into Google Maps.
It might happen that the steps to activate the Driving Mode may vary from one device to another, however, above mentioned steps are the most common steps using which many users were able to activate it. This may be a hidden feature Google may not have meant to release publicly, or it may simply be a bug that it’s not available without workarounds.
