The last words of Steve Jobs

I have come to the pinnacle of success in business.

In the eyes of others, my life has been the symbol of success.
However, apart from work, I have little joy. Finally, my wealth is simply a fact to which I am accustomed.
At this time, lying on the hospital bed and remembering all my life, I realize that all the accolades and riches of which I was once so proud, have become insignificant with my imminent death.
In the dark, when I look at green lights, of the equipment for artificial respiration and feel the buzz of their mechanical sounds, I can feel the breath of my approaching death looming over me.
Only now do I understand that once you accumulate enough money for the rest of your life, you have to pursue objectives that are not related to wealth.
It should be something more important:
For example, stories of love, art, dreams of my childhood.
No, stop pursuing wealth, it can only make a person into a twisted being, just like me.
God has made us one way, we can feel the love in the heart of each of us, and not illusions built by fame or money, like I made in my life, I cannot take them with me.
I can only take with me the memories that were strengthened by love.
This is the true wealth that will follow you; will accompany you, he will give strength and light to go ahead.
Love can travel thousands of miles and so life has no limits. Move to where you want to go. Strive to reach the goals you want to achieve. Everything is in your heart and in your hands.
What is the world's most expensive bed? The hospital bed.
You, if you have money, you can hire someone to drive your car, but you cannot hire someone to take your illness that is killing you.
Material things lost can be found. But one thing you can never find when you lose: life.
Whatever stage of life where we are right now, at the end we will have to face the day when the curtain falls.
Please treasure your family love, love for your spouse, love for your friends...
Treat everyone well and stay friendly with your neighbors.

Advertising Mistakes Small Businesses Make

Advertising Mistakes Small Businesses Make By Amad Ahmad

Sadly, as a small business owner you are much more likely to make costing online advertising mistakes than larger companies. The main reason for this is simple, as a small business you don’t have the in-house expertise many larger companies do have, for example you don’t often have staff experienced in the ins and outs of advertising. As a small business owner you can however avoid many costly mistakes, simply by knowing about them and then simply avoiding doing them.

Placing the Focus Elsewhere

The focus always needs to be on your target audience (target customer), their specific problems and how you can solve them. NOT on your products and/or services. They want to know what’s in it for them, not what’s in it for you. Remember: always promote benefits over features.

Being Unclear about Your Target Audience

If you don’t know who your specific target audience is, it will be hard to create the right advertisements. Create target customer personas so that each time you write an advertisement or create a message, you know exactly who to direct it towards.

Having a Weak Message

In order to create a strong message, you need to know your target audience and have an objective (action you want them to do), ensuring that you list the benefits along with your unique selling proposition. If you include some powerful words in simple but clear language, it’ll work much better.

Not Sending Marketing Messages Often Enough

The frequency by which you choose to send advertising messages is important. By not sending them often enough and your audience will forget you exist; send them too often and you become a pest. You have to know your target audience to know how often to send messages without crossing that line … and remember if in doubt ask your audience.

Avoiding a Call to Action

If you don’t give your target audience something to do, they will likely do nothing at all. It’s important to know what your objective is before placing your advertisement so that you can form an effective Call to Action (CTA).

Not Using an Effective Landing Page

You can have a great product, a wonderful advertisement and then not convert people because your landing page isn’t effective. If you have a lot of click-through to the landing page but which aren’t converting to customers, test different landing pages.

Misunderstanding the Metrics

A good example of what metrics can do for you is the point above. Try to understand what the numbers mean so that you can make a good choice of how to perfect the situation. If you’re not sure, talk to someone who is an expert.

Not Budgeting for Experts

You can’t do everything yourself and if advertising and sales isn’t in your expertise wheelhouse, you should contract with an expert to help you. If you already have your product or service ready, find someone who is used to marketing to your audience, and get their help.
Understanding that these are mistakes that lots of small businesses make with their advertising can help you, to not do the same. It’s important that you are aware of the types of things small businesses do that cause failure, or more importantly perhaps, that cost a lot of money without generating any real results. If you know better, you can do better and in this instance knowledge is power.

Five Common Mistakes Leaders Make

Leaders are prone to take risks and those risks may cause others to see them as ‘losers,’ especially if the leaders don’t have full knowledge of what the endeavor consists of before they become involved. Some mistakes come from thinking so radically that it’s impossible to know how taking a chance will turn out. If it turns out well, the leader is a hero. If not, serious consequences may be the result.
There are some common mistakes made among most leaders that are avoidable if you know some leadership strategies. Here are five common mistakes which can and should be avoided if you’re in a leadership role:
  1. Focusing on tasks rather than reaching the ultimate goal. Focusing too much on “busy work” can keep you from getting the results you want and desire from a team. Great leaders tend to focus on the end results being reached more than looking or being busy at all times.
  2. Checking up on employees rather than engaging them. Make it a point to get to know your team members and engage them in conversation which can pinpoint what makes them tick. It’s important to get your vision across, and you can’t do that if you merely check in once in a while.
  3. Don’t stick to your own leadership style. You can learn from other leaders in history and in your business, but don’t mimic them when it comes to your leadership style. Develop your own and stick to it to become a leader who stands out from the others.
  4. Resist change. Many leaders tend to do what they’ve always done in terms of leading. One reason is that they’re too overwhelmed with the complex tasks and responsibilities that leaders must take on. If you want your business or team to prosper and grow, take some time to expose yourself to new ideas that will impact your leadership ability in a positive way.
  5. Hire people too fast to fill a slot. Hiring someone just to fill a void isn’t a good way to build a team you can count on. You’ll invest time and effort in managing the “new hire,” but may eventually need to let him go if you find you’ve made a mistake in hiring. True leaders take their time when hiring and make sure they can complete the work and grow along with the company or team.
Know what’s expected of you in the leadership position. You can’t lead others if you don’t know what you’re striving for, so be sure you’re clear and focused on the vision rather than the small tasks of the job.

Six Steps to Build a Perfectly Branded Website

Every single business needs to have a perfectly branded website, as this is the place where all of your online marketing efforts begin and end, it’s the center of your universe and all of your social media and other online marketing channels act as satellites directing people back to your website.
Having just any old website will not do your business any favors, in fact it’s more than likely to do the opposite and help drive potential customers away. To help ensure you have a perfectly branded website, follow these few steps.

Choose Your Domain Name Wisely

If you already have a name for your business, your domain name should typically match it. If you cannot purchase the exact name, because someone else has it, consider using keywords or keyword phrases that match what you do in your business instead. Be careful here, though. If you change your products or services later, you may have to start over.

Use a Reliable Hosting Service

While this may not seem to be related to your brand, it is because you want your hosting company to be very reliable so that your website does not have much, if any down time because most people will not revisit a website they find that is offline. If they click through on some of your advertising and end up on an error page due to the fact that your website has crashed or is down, they probably won’t come back. It’s also worth checking out what support your hosting company offers and how easy it is to contact them when something goes wrong.

Design User-Friendly Navigation

No one likes going to a website and being unable to find what they are looking for, so try to make it super easy for your visitors to find everything on your website by having multiples types of website navigation and multiple ways to contact you. Don’t try to have a flash navigation system that no one understands, have your home button top left and contact us far right, why? Because this is where people expect to find them and by doing this you’ll give people what they expect and you’ll get more click through.

Create an Attractive Layout

The layout of your website should be pleasing to the eye, match your other marketing materials and evoke the emotions you want it to, based on your brand’s image. It should be responsive and work on multiple devices, oh and if your website is not responsive you are losing out big-time as more people now access the Internet via mobile devices than by computer and these people are not going to your website unless its responsive.

Blog Regularly and with a Purpose

It’s not enough to just have a blog that you update every now and again. You need a blog that has targeted information relating to your business written for your targeted audience. The blog posts should be smart, unique, and speak to your audience as well as use keywords that attract search engine traffic and you must update your blog regularly and to a schedule your audience can learn and therefore can anticipate new content.

Keep All Information Updated

Aside from a blog that is updated on a regular basis, it is important that other information on your website is also kept updated. If you’ve listed your staff on your website, and someone leaves or someone else joins make it a priority to update this information. This applies to all information as people don’t want to read about past events, outdated news or anything that isn’t currently applicable, so keep it updated and your audience engaged.
It’s also important to always keep promoting your website via your social media accounts and every other means you know about and understand The more you promote your website, the more likely you are to want to keep it current and relevant to your audience. You should be proud of your website, and it should form one of the key ingredients of your marketing plan.
Any type of marketing done online should be aimed at directing people back to your website – whether it’s to go to the website to fill out a form, to read a blog post, to watch a video, to sign up for a contest, or to buy something. The website is the center of your online universe and everything else satellites directing people back.

Overcoming Your Fear Of Public Speaking

Ask anyone attending networking events, in fact ask anyone in business what they fear the most and the answer most often given is public speaking, people are afraid of public speaking. Yet public speaking is not a modern day concept, the ancient Greeks held public speaking forums, and even before then and throughout history it is known to have existed.
For today’s speaker there seems to be this almost unnatural foreboding associated with speaking in public, people are worried about forgetting what to say, of offending people, of not saying what they have planned to say, they are afraid of the attention and well everything the imagination can conjure up, it seems.
However, that sense of foreboding does not have to exist, it’s actually more a myth than it is, a reality. People today are searching for answers, hope, inspiration as well as motivation and change in their lives. For this reason, the public speaker has everything going for them.

Why People Freeze When Speaking

There are numerous reasons why people freeze when speaking, and the biggest reason is fear:
  • Fear of making a mistake
  • Fear of embarrassment
  • Fear of offending someone in the audience
  • Fear of not being able to answer a question and give up credibility
  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of freezing up and forgetting what you were going to say
Some of these fears are understandable, and when considered all together as a whole, it is no wonder why an individual speaker would freeze up. However, there are many ways to overcome these fears.

How to Overcome Your Fears of Public Speaking

Make sure you know your subject matter

If you know everything there is to know about LinkedIn and how best to use it to get business, you would not talk about how to catch fish with a particular lure, because you wouldn’t have sufficient knowledge in the subject. Therefore stick to those subjects that you are well versed in, and this will give you the confidence you need to get up and get out there.

Practice makes perfect

Although it may sound corny, it does help to practice in front of a mirror and even your family, friends, and neighbors before trying it out with a live audience. By doing so, this will give you much-needed rehearsal and the opportunity to pick and choose the inflections and tone of your voice. It also embeds confidence in you to believe in yourself and in your ability to deliver your speech.

Keep helping others as your focus

If you go out there and focus on yourself rather than the message you have to put out, you will most likely freeze up. When you make it about helping others, and simply about sharing your knowledge you are in the giving mode and not the receiving mode.

Rehearse some worst-case scenarios

Things sometimes I go wrong speaking, that’s a fact but if you if you rehearse some worst case scenarios before speaking publicly, you will almost certainly find that nothing even close to those scenarios will happen. This gives you confidence for next time you speak, and by being prepared you will never be caught unawares.
Putting these tips into practice will help you to prepare yourself and give you the confidence you need to get your message out there and to speak in public. Once you’ve done it a few times, if you are like me you’ll learn to enjoy it and you’ll never fear public speaking again.
