Try it, which animal do you see first?

The first animal you see would determine your personality

Our minds play tricks on us all the time and they see things the way we want them to see it. The image you see first, therefore, says a lot about who you are based on your choice.
Our personalities are quite complex and there are multiple traits which come into play to create the personality which we reflect. Our personalities have multiple sides and there are numerous dimensions of our personality which come together in a cumulative way to describe our overall attitude.

That being said, we do have some primary traits which form the backbone of our personalities. While we add different dimensions to our thoughts with our experience and knowledge, the central qualities which define us rarely change. And these traits are the ones which help us decide the kind of people we become and the choices we make.

Your mind, therefore, tricks you into seeing things the way you want to see them and your personality has a lot to do with your choice. The animal, for example, you see first in the picture below does, therefore, reveal a lot about your choices and the personality you have. Try it, which animal do you see first?

Which animal do you see first?

#1 A Butterfly

A Butterfly
A Butterfly

A butterfly is the most well-known symbol of beauty and change. It transforms from a cocoon to one of the most elegant of all nature's creation. If the butterfly was the first thing you saw, you most probably reflect the same traits. You are adaptable, flexible and you can change yourself based on your needs and can do whatever needs to be done. You may also find yourself in the ugly pictures of life (in your cocoon) but rest assured, you have the personality to break out and be the beautiful person you are meant to be.

#2 An Eagle

An Eagle
An Eagle

Wild, free and built for the skies, an eagle is one of the ultimate predators of nature. If you spotted the eagle first, it shows that you too are focused and completely driven towards what you want. You never waiver in your decisions and once you have got the target locked, the thing that you want most in life, you would swoop down to grab it and fly away with it, high into the skies, beyond anyone's reach.

#3 A Praying Mantis

A Praying Mantis
A Praying Mantis

A praying mantis is a master of the senses and patience. It can keep still for hours, waiting for its prey and acts without warning to hunt it. If a praying mantis was the first creature you saw, then you have really strong instincts. Your inner voice guides you and you are clearly in touch with your primal self. You go by your guts and more often than not, you get what you want. You are the master of your domain and just like the mantis, there's a fighting spirit driving you from within.

#4 A Dog

A Dog
A Dog

Loyal, brave, protective and truly selfless, everyone knows the traits associated with a dog but there are truly very few who actually imbibe these traits. If the dog was the first thing you saw, you can rest assured that you are one of the very few people who can be all of the above at the same time. You can be loyal but fierce, selfless and loving, protective and playful at the same time. You are a blend of most rare and incredible traits in the world and no wonder, you are loved by everyone who has the opportunity to know you.

#5 A Wolf

A Wolf
A Wolf

A lone warrior who walks in a pack. The wolves are known to live in a pack but they are also lonely creatures, wandering the wild alone, fearless and fierce. If it was the wolf that you saw first, chances are that your inner self is as fierce and fearless as that of a wolf's. You may walk in a crowd, but your personality will always stand out. To be a wolf can be both an exhilarating experience as well as a lonely affair but you are built to handle it all.

#6 A Crab

A Crab
A Crab

Hard on the outside, soft from within, you share this trait with the crab if it was the first creature you saw in the picture. Crabs are also known to be extremely loyal. It goes without saying, therefore, that if you look within yourself, you would find that you have always been loyal (whether you know it or not). You have always placed the needs of your loved ones ahead of your own and never in your wildest thoughts have you considered cheating/betraying those who trust you.

#7 A Rooster

A Rooster
A Rooster

If a rooster was the first image you saw, the primary characteristic of your personality is perseverance. A rooster is not meek by any standards, it is quick, smart, persistent and despite the small body, roosters are known to be fierce creatures. You, like them, may look harmless by the looks of it but when it matters, there are few who can fight back, like you.

#8 A Stallion

A Stallion
A Stallion

If the stallion was the first thing you saw, you are indeed one of the ambitious kind. Wild, free and raw, you are driven to succeed and to be free no matter what. You never shy away from an honest day's work and you are not the one to stay away from a fight. You are in touch with your inner-self which is ready to stand out and be counted. Your personality is the same, exemplary, honest and driven.

#9 A Dove

A Dove
A Dove

A symbol of peace and eternal love, a dove is one of the most beautiful creations of nature. If a dove was the first creature you saw, you probably are a wise soul. You are calm, patient, nurturing and at peace with yourself. It is one of the most difficult things to attain in life (peace from within) and you are well placed to attain peace with least effort from your side. You'll always be a symbol of hope for someone.

Paulo Coelho’s 5 Smartest Advices for Students

When Paolo Coelho wrote and released “The Alchemist,” his first publisher dropped the book because the sales were bad. Fortunately, he found another publisher who had more faith in it and the rest became history. “The Alchemist” encourages a person to reconsider how he views life and helped establish Coleho as an inspirational writer. Here are some of the smartest advice from the book that will prove helpful how you view life not only as a student but in general.
Action is the first step to success
Success will not come if you don’t take a step first. Taking action is also the only way to learn. You can study more, read more, listen more but if you don’t take any action, all those knowledge remains a knowledge. On the other hand, success comes when you turn that knowledge into action.
Compensate your weakness with your strength
All of us have their own weaknesses and strengths. However, weaknesses should not stop you from being successful and earning the respect of others. Instead, focus on your strength instead of your weakness.
Persevere
In “The Alchemist,” there’s a quote there that says if you really want something, the universe conspires in helping you get that dream. There might be something you’ll encounter that will make you doubt your dream but yo have to keep your focus and be obsessed with your dream.
Rejection is normal
Paulo loved writing and believes in himself. He recounted a story where he passed some of his poetry in a reputable magazine but got humiliated in return. He took it personally at first but eventually got over the rejection. The experience encouraged him to make himself better.
Getting a corporate job does not necessarily mean success
Getting a job in the corporate world might pay you a lot of money but that does not necessarily mean success. Doing what you love doing is a gift that only a few enjoys but not impossible to achieve.

The Dark and Bloody History of Valentine's Day

As we all know, the annual festival for lovers to celebrate love is coming near. Of course, we are talking about "Valentine's Day", it is a no-brainer that most people who enjoys this holiday more are the committed couples. Generally, it is a time for us to celebrate romance and love and everything cheesy. Valentine's day may be cheesy since it focuses on giving sweets and seeing cupids around. But don't get fooled, the love festival actually has a dark, bloody and muddled origin.
"Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is an annual holiday celebrated on February 14. It originated as a Western Christian liturgical feast day honoring one or more early saints named Valentinus, and is recognized as a significant cultural and commercial celebration in many regions around the world, although it is not a public holiday in any country." - Wikipedia

Though no one has been able to pinpoint the exact origin of the holiday, one good and more accurate place to begin is ancient Rome, where men hit on women by, well, hitting them. From February 13 to 15, the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia. It is known to have men sacrifice a goat and a dog, then whipped women with the hides of the animals they had just slain. The Roman romantics were depicted as drunk and naked during this holiday according to Noel Lenski, a historian at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The holiday centers around the young women who would confidently line up for men to hit them. They believed that getting hit during this holiday would make them fertile. The brutal belief also includes a matchmaking lottery, in which young men drew the names of women from a jar. Then, the couple would be coupled up for the duration of the festival or longer, if the match seems to be accurate. The early Romans was known to be responsible for the name of this love festival. Emperor Claudius II executed two men who possesses the name "Valentine" on February 14 of different years in the 3rd century A.D. Their act of humbleness and kindness known to be martyrdom was greatly honored by the Catholic Church in which, the celebration of St. Valentine's Day started to be practiced.
Before too long, Pope Gelasius I mixed things up in the 5th century by combining St. Valentine's Day with Lupercalia to remove the pagan rituals. He might have won that time but the festival became more of a theatrical interpretation of what it had once been. People was a little more on a drunken revel, but at least, the Christians put clothes back on it. Even if the celebration toned down some acts of people during February 14, it still didn't stop the festival from being a day of fertility and love. During that time, the Normans celebrated Galatin's Day. Galatin is known to have a meaning; "lover of women." It was likely confused with St. Valentine's Day at some point, due to they sound alike.
William Shakespeare is known worldwide and considered to be a great person who revolutionized literature of our time also helped in giving more "love factor" and romanticized Valentine's Day through his work. He did not failed as it gained popularity throughout Britain and the rest of Europe. As the years went by, the holiday grew more sweeter. Chaucer and Shakespeare romanticized it in their work, and it gained popularity throughout Britain and the rest of Europe. Handmade paper cards became the tokens-du-jour in the Middle Ages. Eventually, the tradition made its way to the New World. The industrial revolution ushered in factory-made cards in the 19th century. And in 1913, Hallmark Cards of Kansas City, Mo., began mass producing valentines. February has not been the same since. And until now, people are known to be celebrating this festival with more relevance to Shakespeare's idea.
Fast forward to present times, the holiday is still known to be a big business. And so the celebration of Valentine's Day goes on, in variety of ways. Some will find time to spend this day with their significant other, while some will break the bank buying jewelry and flowers for their beloved partners. Some might still find this day worth celebrating even if they are single and alone. But if in case, you want to find a way to somehow lessen the romantic feel of Valentine's day, then its dark origins may help!

9 Incredibly Useful Mental Life Hacks

The concept of a life hack has been around for centuries... here are 9 incredibly useful mental life hacks!
1. When a group of people breaks into laughter, people will instinctively look at the person or people they want to feel closest to. If you want to know if someone in the group finds you interesting or perhaps attractive, look to see if they laugh in your direction. It could be the hint you're looking for.
2. Check out the direction a person's feet are when they're talking to you. If their feet are pointed toward you, they're listening intently to what you have to say. If they're pointed in another direction, they're likely wanting to walk away from you.
3. When you're on a first date, try taking them somewhere exciting like a theme park. They'll associate memories of you with feeling thrilled.
4. When you meet someone, take note of their eye color when you're first speaking with them. People will like you more because you're intently looking them in their eyes instead of elsewhere. Even slightly increased eye contact betters your chances.
5. If you work in customer service, like as a clerk, put a large mirror behind you. If customers are able to see themselves in the reflection in the mirror, they are more likely to treat you with respect.
6. Be confident. Most people can't tell the difference between someone who's a genius and someone who's simply confident. Look like you know what you're doing and people will rally around you.
7. If you find yourself in a group meeting and you know for a fact you're going to get chewed, out, sit next to the person who plans to do the chewing. By doing so, you in a way separate them from the pack and make them feel isolated. It might mitigate some of their aggression.
8. If you make yourself extremely happy when you see someone, they'll be much more likely to be extremely happy the next time they see you. Dogs do this to us all the time.
9. Before a job interview, imagine yourself as being old pals with your interviewers. That puts you in a better, more comfortable position. You're more likely to take charge and your comfort will be noticed.

My goal is not to be better than anyone else, but to be better than I used to be.

Overcoming Your Fear Of Public Speaking

Ask anyone attending networking events, in fact ask anyone in business what they fear the most and the answer most often given is public speaking, people are afraid of public speaking. Yet public speaking is not a modern day concept, the ancient Greeks held public speaking forums, and even before then and throughout history it is known to have existed.
For today’s speaker there seems to be this almost unnatural foreboding associated with speaking in public, people are worried about forgetting what to say, of offending people, of not saying what they have planned to say, they are afraid of the attention and well everything the imagination can conjure up, it seems.
However, that sense of foreboding does not have to exist, it’s actually more a myth than it is, a reality. People today are searching for answers, hope, inspiration as well as motivation and change in their lives. For this reason, the public speaker has everything going for them.

Why People Freeze When Speaking

There are numerous reasons why people freeze when speaking, and the biggest reason is fear:
  • Fear of making a mistake
  • Fear of embarrassment
  • Fear of offending someone in the audience
  • Fear of not being able to answer a question and give up credibility
  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of freezing up and forgetting what you were going to say
Some of these fears are understandable, and when considered all together as a whole, it is no wonder why an individual speaker would freeze up. However, there are many ways to overcome these fears.

How to Overcome Your Fears of Public Speaking

Make sure you know your subject matter

If you know everything there is to know about LinkedIn and how best to use it to get business, you would not talk about how to catch fish with a particular lure, because you wouldn’t have sufficient knowledge in the subject. Therefore stick to those subjects that you are well versed in, and this will give you the confidence you need to get up and get out there.

Practice makes perfect

Although it may sound corny, it does help to practice in front of a mirror and even your family, friends, and neighbors before trying it out with a live audience. By doing so, this will give you much-needed rehearsal and the opportunity to pick and choose the inflections and tone of your voice. It also embeds confidence in you to believe in yourself and in your ability to deliver your speech.

Keep helping others as your focus

If you go out there and focus on yourself rather than the message you have to put out, you will most likely freeze up. When you make it about helping others, and simply about sharing your knowledge you are in the giving mode and not the receiving mode.

Rehearse some worst-case scenarios

Things sometimes I go wrong speaking, that’s a fact but if you if you rehearse some worst case scenarios before speaking publicly, you will almost certainly find that nothing even close to those scenarios will happen. This gives you confidence for next time you speak, and by being prepared you will never be caught unawares.
Putting these tips into practice will help you to prepare yourself and give you the confidence you need to get your message out there and to speak in public. Once you’ve done it a few times, if you are like me you’ll learn to enjoy it and you’ll never fear public speaking again.

7 Signs It’s Time To Improve Your Relationship With Yourself

Over time, our relationships with ourselves can become distant, and in some cases, harmful, if we don’t hear the alarm bells sounding off, trying to tell us to love ourselves like it’s our job. With the hurried pace of life today, many people simply don’t take the time to look after themselves, or feel too tired after a long day at work or school to even think about their relationship with themselves. So, we trudge on, just trying to make it through the day, but feeling empty and exhausted all the same.
If this sounds like you, start taking small steps in order to improve your relationship with yourself. This doesn’t have to mean quitting your job or dropping out of school to make time for yourself, but just carving out ten or fifteen minutes a day to have “me” time.

HERE ARE 7 SIGNS IT’S TIME TO BETTER YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOURSELF:

1. YOU FEEL DISCONNECTED FROM YOURSELF.

With so many people pressed for time and under pressure to keep up with their obligations, it comes as no surprise that a large part of the population feels disconnected from themselves. We don’t spend near enough time in nature, allowing the sunlight to grace our skin and letting the breeze carry away all of our problems. In short, we feel detached from ourselves because we have a broken connection with nature. We ARE nature, so we can find ourselves again by connecting more with Mother Earth and less with our jobs and phones and possessions.
If you feel like an alien in your own body, it might be time to do some deep meditation or yoga, or get back to nature for even thirty minutes a day. This will greatly improve your relationship with yourself and all of humanity.

2. YOU’VE BEEN HAVING HEALTH PROBLEMS RECENTLY.

More than anything, not feeling well should make the alarms go off in your head and tell you that you need to slow down, take some deep breaths, and do some deep reflecting. Stress is actually the culprit behind many common health problems today, so in order to combat the stress, you need to go to the source of it.  Once you eliminate the major stressors, you can begin to take your health back into your hands by meditating regularly, exercising, eating clean, whole foods, and living a life you truly enjoy.

3. YOU HAVE A NEGATIVE SELF-IMAGE.

You can’t live a positive life seeing through a distorted lens, so you must correct how you view yourself if you want to see big changes. Throw away all the man-made expectations of what and who you should be, and instead, see yourself as a manifestation of energy, perfectly worthy of occupying space on this Earth. Loving yourself and having a good relationship with yourself doesn’t have to be as hard as some people make it out to be.
You don’t have to read every self-help book out there and meditate for twelve hours a day just to gain acceptance from yourself. Just make that choice everyday to love yourself no matter what happens, what mistakes you make, or how your clothes fit you. None of this matters; the only significance is in how you see yourself. Because this is the lens in which you will see the world through.

4. YOU ENGAGE IN SELF-HARMING BEHAVIORS.

Cutting, starving yourself, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, doing drugs often, and eating a poor diet all are indications that you need to work on your relationship with yourself. If you saw your friend or relative engaging in these types of behaviors, would you be concerned? You should have the same level of respect and care for yourself as you do for others, so treat yourself as you would want to be treated.
However, if you feel you cannot stop any of these behaviors, please seek professional help immediately.

5. YOU ALWAYS WANT TO RUN FROM YOURSELF.

Sometimes, we just feel restless and sort of trapped inside our 3D selves, and just want to escape somehow. However, in this lifetime, we have been gifted with our own personal vessel for a reason. Think of yourself as a little spaceship, traveling through life and having experiences that will help you lift off into some other dimension after you have explored this one. No one else gets to have the same ship as you, so you should see yourself as a rarity, a beautiful diamond that constantly gets polished with each new experience.
Instead of trying to run from your life, your problems, or yourself, just embrace the person you are. Feel blessed to have even landed on this giant rock spinning in space, and just focus on the present moment. You will enjoy life much more and have a better relationship with yourself if you simply express gratitude about this miracle we call life.

6. THE RELATIONSHIPS IN YOUR LIFE DON’T SERVE YOUR BEST INTEREST.

You might wonder how your relationships determine your relationship with yourself, but remember: you attract what you are. If you don’t have high self-worth, you will attract people into your life who don’t love themselves, either. Everything starts with you, so if you want to have positive, inspiring relationships, look at the person in the mirror first.

7. YOU DON’T FEEL INSPIRED OR PASSIONATE ABOUT LIFE.

Motivation and inspiration must grow from within us before we can start seeing it branch out into other areas of our lives. If you don’t feel passionate about life, go into your heart and ask your Higher self for guidance. Sometimes it seems difficult to figure out what direction we must take, but you have to first silence the voice of the Ego, and listen to the one of your heart. It will always tell you what path will bring you where you need to go.
