Asus Unveils The Fastest RT-AC5300 Router with 8 Dual-Band Antenna at IFA 2015
Asus just announced its own new router that is capable of taking on all rivals, including Google’s OnHub. The company announced the RT-AC5300U 802.11ac router using Broadcom’s tri-band Wi-Fi chip-set at IFA 2015 today and claimed it to provide the word’s fastest Wi-Fi.
The RT-AC5300 is a tri-band router that operates on 2.4 GHz and dual 5 GHz frequencies. It’s capable of speeds of up to 1Gbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 2.167 Gbps on each 5 GHz band for a total (potential) potency of 5.3 Gbps.
According to CNET, the new Asus product qualifies as a tri-band router due to its three Wi-Fi brands. In addition, it contains the newest Broadcom’s Wi-Fi chip.
The users should keep in mind that the router’s lightning-fast speed does not take into consideration the clients’ Wi-Fi specifications. That includes the impact of devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. However, various other factors could slow down the wireless internet connection, which include the geographic range, electrical interference, and software and hardware overheads.
The new router has eight antennas arranged in a four-transmit, four-receive configuration. Asus says the router has improved Wi-Fi range and signal stability, reaching up to 500 square meters. It also includes a pair of USB ports to host the 3.0 and 2.0 versions for hooking up additional peripherals. The RT-AC5300 utilizes AiProtection to help out with security, real-time network monitoring to detect malware and viruses.
The Asus product could be the first AC-5300 retail router. It will ship out by the end of this year, and its rumored to be priced around $400.
